My mom depends on me the most. We split the bills so we need each other. I work hard to make sure we don’t go without things we need. It makes me happy knowing I help make my mom’s life easier. I give her rides to work every morning. Before I go to work after school every day, I make sure she gets home okay. Taking care of each other has made us both into stronger people. We’ve learned how to manage our time wiser. It can be stressful when someone relies on you it puts additional pressure on your situation. Sometimes you just want to do your own thing. Especially when you have limited time and you have to take out your own time for someone else. Family comes first. We just have to strive a little harder for the ones we love. It’s a rewarding feeling to help people in need.
In Take the Cannoli, Sarah Vowell isn’t depended on much. Her chapters talk mostly about politics. We depend on our government to make the right decisions that benefit the community. In the Sarah’s hometown in Oklahoma, the people depend a lot on the church. They look into the church for guidance. The church influences their character heavily. One character looks at women with short hair like if they were the devil. The passages talk a lot about how the characters surroundings reflects them.
One of the things that I like most about this post is what's not in it. I know that might be a strange comment to make, but I remember what you had written when I first talked to you during class. I see that you chose to focus on your mom and you cut out the part about your niece. So even though this post is a little short, you're showing me some sophisticated writing ability by the fact that you can make those kinds of choices as you write. Good work, Vianca. All that being said, continue to try to get to 300 words on these posts. ;)
