Judgment

Judgment is natural. It is within every human being to profile somebody, even if it is for the first second they see them, and it goes away, for some people. Personally I try not to judge, judge people, judge movies, judge music, anything. Sometimes I will admit that I do judge people based on who or what they are, but it goes away after I get to know the person, especially if we end up getting along. For example, when I came to the bridge program I had thought that everybody was going to be mean and competitive. But when I met a lot of people on my floor I came to find that they are all the opposite of what I thought, they are not mean, and they are certainly always willing to help me out with anything if I ask them. In Lost in Place, Mark had passed judgment about Sensei O’Keefe thinking that he would be big and muscular because that is what he thought was required to be a Kung Fu master, but when he met O’Keefe, he was no bigger than him. Mark had judged Kung Fu overall by thinking Sensei O’Keefe was something he was not, even though Sensei O’Keefe was small, he is a fifth degree black belt. My roommate and I had met a new friend named Reed who lived two rooms down from our suite, both my roommate and I did not know what to think of him at first, but the end of the day we all ended up being really good friends when I had passed judgment thinking that he was conceited in the first place. He and my roommate ended up doing a lot of favors for one another like paying for each other if one of them could not afford something and then paying each other back which I thought was swell. I try and save money as much as I can, Reed has always kept his word as well.
