Fear
When it comes to fears, I have very few of them. One of my greatest fears however I would have to say is death or how I will die. This is mainly because you can’t control when this day will come, it just happens suddenly majority of the time. I also fear this because I wouldn’t want my life to be taken away at a great point in my life or when I’m in a very pleasant situation in my time. This is because I’m young and feel that I have a lot to do on this earth before my call to grace. Death is a very powerful and also common topic in today’s society just it has always been in history. I feel that death is history because history is past, old, and is gone but is not necessarily forgotten. The young boys in the book that I am reading titled, They Poured Fire On Us from the Sky also live with fear in their heart. As I read on their long adventure towards the refugee camp, they keep thoughts in their mind of failure. Going on this journey, it was not unusual for them to come across the thought of death. They struggled to maintain composure as they faced a long road on foot but were able to go on as they fed off each other’s courage and will to make it successfully. I feel that if they did not have each other there, the chances of surviving these dreadful conditions would greatly plummet.
I know that many like to repeat the famous quote by FDR, ‘Only thing we have to fear is fear itself’ but what is fear? It all depends on whose perspective it is.
