Hello Dolls and Gents!!

Home Away From Home

Leaving for college was very hard for me. Having to leave back family, and friends ones you really care about. Not being able to see or do the things I enjoy doing. Or going to a new place where you really don’t know anybody and everything is new is an eye opening experience. In the story the characters face being token from home. Being separated from their families not knowing if they would ever see them again. Realizing that having a home again may never happen. They didn’t know where their families were not knowing if they were dead or alive. For example when Benjamin arrived he began to look for his family. He asked “Did you see anyone of our family?” He began cry because he didn’t know where they were he couldn’t go back home because of all the shooting that was taking place. In comparison when I had to leave home I knew that going back was slim to none. By home so being far away. I felt exactly how my characters felt. It seemed as if I could never go back home. I sometimes get home sick because I miss home a lot. Another example is when the young boy told the captain that a boy was sick. His reply was the sickness will go away if you start walking and get stronger and don’t think about your family. Thinking about my situation about leaving for college I think that in some way that might can help me by dealing with leaving home. Doing things that can keep me preoccupied like being active studying, writing or just doing something I enjoy to keep my mind off of it would really help me to cope with leaving home. Also he said that if you think too much of your family you will die before you reach a safer place. Reading that in the text has opened my eyes to know that me thinking too much about it will really kill me and may discourage me from college so I take what the author was saying and turn that into something that could help me in my everyday life. In conclusion this is some reasons why I feel that me leaving home for college and the characters being took away from home is a connection.
