Reed

I feel that I didn’t necessarily need to come to the bridge program but I am glad that I did. I have already met a ton of new kids and they all come from different backgrounds, which exposes me to different ways that people live. I love being exposed to new things especially when I have time to take in those things. I learn something new every day and it’s beneficial in the long run. Coming into the bridge program I didn’t exactly know what to expect. I thought it was going to be way more rigorous and I didn’t think that I would get along with some of the kids. After spending two weeks in the program I think that the transition between this and the upcoming semester is going to be smooth. I also have everything I need to succeed, and whether that is tutoring or friends I will always have someone there to help me. I really like that idea, and I am going to use it to the best of my advantage.

The character in my book has to do a lot of things that he doesn’t want to do, but he does them anyways. He is always being beat up by other kids when he is at the martial arts center, and it’s not that he doesn’t want to be there, it’s just his passion for Kung Fu that gives him the patients to endure the physical abuse. Just like me, Mark has met a lot of kids through his practice center, and he has also been exposed to some things that he really never thought he would be. He hates going to the martial center sometimes because his sensei comes drunk most of the times. He is usually hassled by him, which aggravates him to a degree. So despite facing things that you don’t want to, Mark and I have done our best to take in the environment and to pursue what we believe in.
