To relax I to listen to music. My ipod takes me to another zone. Music clears my mind and frees my thoughts. The melodic harmonies are a great escape from the burdons of life. The type of mood I’m in reflects in the type of music I play. When I’ve had a long, tiresome day, I’ll probably put on some R&B or Bachata, something smooth and soothing. If I’m getting ready to go out, I’ll have something upbeat playing to get my energy up.

When I have time and space to dance, that takes me to another level. Dancing decreases my stress and utilizes my energy positively. After I dance I feel relived. My mood is revitalized. I have more energy and feel stronger. Working out is also a great stress reliever for me. I enjoy running and doing yoga.

A habit that I kicked to that helped me relax is smoking. I smoked casually. However I noticed the more you smoke the more you want to smoke. Smoking makes your body crave nicotine. I also noticed while smoking I didn’t have as much energy to do the physical activities I love. Less smoking and more cardio has left me healthier and happy.

I also enjoy drawing as a pastime to relax. Sometimes drawing is easier than writing for me to express how I feel. I like to consider the representation of color when working on my art. I enjoy putting together pieces that tell stories. It is easy to free your mind when you’re elaborating on the details of your work.

  1. Today, I'd like you to write as much as you can about the prompt as quickly as you can. Don't worry about how good or bad it is. Just write. Once you've done that, I'll take a look and we'll see if there are things that you can add or change.
