Opposites Attract

In the book take the Cannoli, Sarah has a love affair with a boy she recently met. They have different interest and don’t necessarily have the same taste in music. They make a cassette tape with songs she likes and songs he liked and songs they didn’t know at all. They interpreted the songs differently and didn’t find common ground about the meanings. But they still liked each other. When they were departing from each other he heard a song that made him want to run after her but he didn’t. She says that it was a God given sign that they weren’t suppose to be together. And he just thought of it as corny pop songs. She has feelings that they may not work out because she says that mixed-faith marriages hardly ever work. I always believed in the saying that opposites attract. My opinion is that they might have a good chance in being together. As long as the other person understands then they will be able to stay together.

I have a relationship like that with friend. She is quiet and has to have logic behind everything. I’m not at all quiet and I don’t really care about logic. She is serious most of the time and I try to be silly and she looks at me like I’m crazy. She is an atheist and I’m a Christian. All signs say we shouldn’t be friends but I believe we balance each other out. I need her and she needs me and we are always there for each other. I think its best that friends have different ideas and beliefs and its best to be open about new ideas so that you won’t be enclosed in a box of your own personal beliefs but have knowledge about other things you may not ever know about.
