Motivation
There are a lot of things in my life that motivate me. I am easily motivated by the youth because they are next up in society. They depend on people my age for guidance because they don’t know things that we know just off of experience alone. I am also motivated by the city of Chicago because it is my birth city and I have visions quite often of being able to stay in a very exclusive apartments or condo in the downtown area. Another big motivation for me is the fear of failing or not succeeding. I feel that that is very common motivation for people in our society today.
It is also seen in the book that I am reading titled, They Poured Fire On Us From the Sky. The lost boys (Benson, Benjamin, and Alephonsion) are seen as warriors of Sudan in my eyes because of their agonizing journey to a refugee camp. These boys are brave while at the same time had fear in their hearts. It is no surprise that these boys had a motivation as they journeyed across the land of Africa. Similar to one of my motivations, I strongly see one of their motivations being the fear of failure. Throughout the book these boys are placed in the most dangerous situations that I’ve ever imagined. They were often on the run from wild animals looking for prey which made them more alert to their surroundings as they continued on. Also knowing that they could never return back to their home gave them more of a reason to successfully find a new location to stay.
