Sarah has done a lot of traveling and trying new things during her college years. After leaving her parents house there was a shift in conflict and more of a theme of finding herself in her travels. Earlier in her book she described her high school years and what type of person she was. She was mature for her years but her tone changed. She went from a little girl to an adult finding herself in the world. During “Michigan and Wacker” she seems like she takes in the world differently than she did when she was younger. She is more knowledgeable. In her world she has definitely changed and matured. The world around her has positively influenced her own world and who she is. I found a connection between my college years and her travels.
During my college years I want to travel as much as possible. I’m not afraid to go anywhere at any time if it includes learning new things. I love learning about the person I am by seeing the world around me. I have definitely learned a lot about myself and who I am by traveling. Many different things amaze me and add on to my personality. My personality has definitely been affect by the changes in my life and where I’m going in life right now.
Since I “moved out” I have definitely noticed a change. I thought I would have more freedom and do what I wanted when I wanted, but I was wrong. I exposed to living with different kinds of people and not having home cooked meals. I was already independent while living with my parents so I was used to taking care of myself. After moving into the dorms I noticed that I had more responsibilities to take care of. I have to do everything on my own including getting around the city. My personality has shifted since I’ve left home.
