The Cool Kids, Staci Lyn.

Since music has a big impact on Sarah’s life I want to talk about music that influences my life. My favorite band is The Cool Kids. They are influential and motivational when it comes to my life. The band is made up of Chuck Inglish (Chuck Ingersol) from Detroit, Michigan and Mikey Rocks (Antoine Reed) from Chicago, Illinois. They first started out by networking through myspace. I know many people who have tried to “make it big” through myspace and just ended up as a flop. Every song they released was uploaded to their myspace which made it hard to listen to more and more. I wanted to download every song they had, but at the time there were only about five.

Their music was so different from what I heard before. I found them during my freshman year summer and before then I wasn’t familiar with “good music”. The reason I latched on so much to their music was because it was different from what I heard before. Most of the mainstream pop music being played on the radio sounds like factory produced garbage to me. I was getting bored of the same songs being played over and over again. I needed something new and refreshing. The first song I heard from them was “Black Mags”. One of their most popular songs when they were first introduced. The loud bass attracted me to their music. It was chill but also excited me. Another one of my favorite songs is “I’m Mikey”. It’s a song that reminds me of summertime. I remember it was around the time my dad bought me a new car and I had control over the radio. The music sounded so good to me that I wanted to cruise around with my windows down and play the loud bass. (Which lead to me busting my speakers.)
