Danny 8/15/11

The book has taken a few turns. First, Mark Salzman was destined to become a Kung Fu fighter. He practiced all the time, he joined a Kung Fu class, he learned about it, and he devoted his life to it. But it seems that things did not completely work out for Mark, he is slowly leaning towards education in the field of Kung Fu and Chinese culture rather than actually being involved in it. The reason I say that is because Mark had started to take Chinese speaking classes, Chinese literature and Chinese Art in school. By taking these classes it shows that he may have something to fall back on if trying to fulfill his dream of studying the art of Kung Fu fighting does not work out for him. If I were Mark, I would be smart and gain as much knowledge as I can in school about my cultural interest, after that I would maybe try some of the activities involved in it. If I were not to succeed, ill know that I tried, and I’ll still have that education behind it and get involved another way.

As far as predicting what will happen in the end, it is somewhat difficult. I feel that Mark will settle on this idea of getting a proper and useful education, but I must consider what Mark’s passions are, what really makes him happy? Who really knows, Mark may stay with this idea of fighting for a living, or stay true to what is realistic in his case.
