Vianca

The last chapter I read talks about the love mixtapes between Sarah and her boyfriend. She explains how she loved it when he would call her after he read a novel just to discuss it with her. She also enjoyed the letters he wrote to her; he quoted James Baldwin a lot. Sarah and her boyfriend connected on an intellectual level. She admits to not liking the mixtapes. Sarah feels like they’re cliché. Sarah and her boyfriend don’t have the same taste in music. Their was eventually lost and went their separate ways.

In my past, I’ve out grown friends that I no longer had that connection with. One of the hardest things to do is to let go of friends because they don’t understand you anymore. My best friend and I haven’t completely lost touch, but when I see her it’s not the same. We used to practically live together, now we live an hour away. We’ve taken two completely different paths. I’ve moved out of Elgin to try and better myself through college. I have goals to maintain a good career and build myself a prosperous future. She has dropped out of high school and still hasn’t listened to me about enrolling for her G.E.D. She’s four months pregnant. Just yesterday we found out she was having a baby girl. I no longer connect with her like I used to. We both are into things the other can’t relate to.
