Pressing Forward By: Kayla Nicole

Hello Dolls and Gents!!

Trying to write a five page paper, move in to my dorm and study all at the same time was a struggle. When I first received the prompt I thought that since I read the book and took notes that writing this paper would be a breeze. In reality it wasn’t. I think that trying to remember everything that has happen and give great details at the same time were hard, because I wanted to mention everything I could. I found myself placing information in the wrong spot or not painting a picture for my reader.

At first I thought that my paper didn’t flow well so I began to look back and put everything in order as it happened. I was so frustrated I took a break to clear my head to come back with a clear mind. Doing that gave me time to really think about what message I wanted to send to my reader. Referring back persona it reminded me of what I wanted my readers to analysis me as a very positive writer. Meaning I always had a positive outlook on any situation.

Dealing with writer blocked set me back from reaching my goal of writing my paper in a maximum of five hours. I set this goal because I want to learn how to manage my time wisely in college, having five to six classes a week. Each class having a paper due, you have to be able to juggle your time making sure that you are completing every assignment. Conquering this skill would truly help me in the long run when entering college in the next few weeks. If I did not take a break to clear my head I feel that my paper would be a total disaster.

The whole idea of my paper would have been miss-represented. The message that I was trying to send would have came across totally wrong. The story would not have flowed and I would have left a great amount of details out. I am so glad that I have learned this valuable skill. You should try this. Just take time out and think about your whole writing process.

Give real deep thought think about some of the questions your reader may ask when reader your paper. Make sure that you leave your reading with satisfaction that they have gained everything that they need to know when reading your story. This has been a great learning experience for me writing this five page paper and I hope that it was for you too!!
