“They Poured Fire on us from the Sky” interested me because of my fascination of the civil wars that develop in Africa for the reasons that we can call little. The fact that three boys traveling with strangers that have slight relations to them after escaping from a genocidal attack just sounds like the story is full of awe inducing and extraordinary events. Like the author of the compilation of stories I am astonished that these boys were able to tell their stories so openly. Their childhood was generally a great childhood full of well being and great family status from the number of cattle and heroic deeds performed by the father. The boys’ life still wasn’t easy, the number of chores performed daily sounded harsh but necessary.
