When my teacher said the name of the book “Lost in Place” I wasn’t going to choose it. Then he started reading the back of the book and I instantly wanted to read it. The book is about Kung Fu and I love Karate. My mom just would never let me take classes because she felt it was too dangerous and I would get hurt. I lived down the street from a Kung Fu dungeon and I would always go there and just watch with amazement. The reason I’m reading this book is so I could see what problems and situations Mark Salzman had to step over to get to where he is now. Another reason why I chose to read “Lost in Place” was because the book was rather small and it would be quick and painless. In order for me to want to read the book have to keep me interested and it has to catch my attention.
When my teacher first read the book I thought Mark was going to be abused and slandered. I thought his father was going to be a very mean person and beat him. That’s not the case so far into the book. The book is interesting but I can’t say that it did or didn’t live up to my expectations. From what I read the book has my attention and I don’t think it’s going to lose it. I thought this boy parents were totally against him becoming a monk and shaving his hair. That’s not the case. They just want him to finish high school and then he could do what he wants.
