Take The Canoli is a very interesting book so far and whoever is reading this book, I’m sure you agree. When I found out that we could choose the book we wanted to read I immediately wanted to read the summary on the back of each of them. When the first summary was read to us I knew I wanted to read the book. The narrator is a girl and I feel that I can relate to girls more since I am a girl myself. I would be more interested in reading a book if I can relate to the main character. As the summary was being read to me I was drawn in because she had a lot going in her life and she was in the time when the civil war was going on. I could tell that she would go through hardships and I like reading about problems that other people have so I knew that I would enjoy the book very much. Before I chose the book, I had heard about this book by Sarah Vowell. My high school English teacher read books all the time and would recommend books to us that she thought we would like. I never really wanted to read it because it didn’t seem interesting from what I saw on the cover of the book. I didn’t read the back either, that was my second mistake. So this was the chance to take the opportunity to read this particular book.
I saw the book and I thought “how gloomy”. And since it looked gloomy, I was going to choose another book. Normally I would read the first page of the book to see if it draws my attention and then make my decision based on that. But since we didn’t have that option I just chose it because the name of the book sounded familiar. And in most cases if I hear about a book more than once it probably means it’s popular and I would see why everyone was reading it. Reading is a normal day activity for me so I’m reading three books right now including the book I started reading yesterday. I’m so excited and can’t wait to read more!! Happy reading everyone.
