Danny McCampbell
My name is Daniel William McCampbell; I prefer to go by Danny. I was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois, which is a south suburb of Chicago, right outside of the city. I had lived there for about five years, and after that I moved to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with my family. Growing up in Lake Geneva was very nice, it is a good town to grow up in. it is very quaint; it is a small but busy town, especially in the summer when tourists come from all around the world to visit the town and its beautiful Lake.
In Lake Geneva there is a subdivision called Lake Como, and there is where my family had moved. Me, along with Two brothers, one older and one younger, had a good childhood. Our parents, who are extremely hard working, have instilled good moral values into us; they made it their goal to teach us everything they know about life, along with what is good out there and what is bad, how to treat other people, and how to present yourself. My father being a Chicago Pipefitter knows what it is like to work hard, to work for the ever loving buck. He has told me from day one everything that is going on with the family, as well as my mother who was a trauma nurse in Chicago, and has worked her entire life. Both my mother and father have always told me everything, they don’t sugar-coat anything and that goes for my two brothers as well. Living in my house, college after high school is the only option, it is required.
In high school I was constantly into the arts, I was fascinated by it. I took every art class imaginable, drawing, painting, stained glass, photography, broadcasting, etcetera. Which is why I chose Columbia College for a school, I am going into film because I would love to learn and major in cinematography. And where better to learn in than Chicago? All of my family is from here, and I am an hour and a half from home, so it works out great.
Towards the end of high school I had gotten a job as a bus boy at a country club. It was called the Hunt Club and it was located in Geneva National, right on the golf course. It was there that I learned how to earn my money, and work hard for it; I had learned the true value of a dollar.
One thing in my life, among other things that I have learned is respect. Respect is a big deal to me, I demand respect just like the next person does. It is not only something I admire, it is something I value, as far as the idea of it. I am a hard worker just as my parents are, and I have full respect for them. They have brought me up in this world and made me go through so many lessons of life to come up to this point, where I am an adult, and I am in college around so many different kinds of people, it is time to put a lot of that into good use.
